Roots is now a proud supporter of the Cotton Made in Africa (CMAI) program. The yarn is sloley made on smallholder cotton farms which allows the farmer to secure their own income while providing more jobs for the economy. The organization is heavily involved in the community through school and infrastucture projects.

As part of its long-established commitment to social responsibility, Roots often assists both large and small charities, some involved in local initiatives, others more global in their focus. As educators who aspire to instill an ethic of preservation and interconnectivity of all living things we are always asking ourselves: How can we best teach young people to care for the environment? How can we help them understand that all living organisms on this planet - insect, plant, animal and human are interconnected? Why is it that some people in society today are passionate about the environment and practice sustainable behavior while others do not? What makes us care?
Since mid-April, staff at the Roots head office have been enjoying free lunchtime yoga class! To promote and encourage healthy lifestyles Grethe (standing), leads a yoga session every Tuesday for staff members, adding to the already available pilates class.
Due to its popularity, an additional Thursday class, led by the Roots Yoga Studio manager and Director of Health and Wellness Laurie Campbell, was added to the schedule.

Deb Corbell and Dave Bouskill, also known as The Planet D, are Canada’s premier adventure couple. Traversing the globe for the past 11 years, their website hosts one of the top Canadian travel blogs. Before their latest major expedition took them to Antarctica, Ecuador, and Argentina in the winter, Roots outfitted the pair.
